Holidays, hoedown make unique pairing at the fairgrounds

The holidays and a hoedown may not seem like a natural fit, but each year families from across Lake County and beyond make their way to the county fairgrounds in Grayslake to see that reindeer and ranchers really do go together.

The Holiday Hoedown indoor winter festival runs through Dec. 29 at the fairgrounds, 1060 E. Peterson Road. The event features a “Magical Midway” with rides, carnival-style games, decorated trees and seasonal food and drink. Other activities and exhibits include rope making, antique tractors, hayrides, miniature golf and a barrel train.
