Chicago theater helps visually, hearing impaired
Chicago’s Lookingglass Theatre Company says it’s trying to make productions more accessible to people with visual and hearing impairments.
The downtown Chicago theater said Thursday that it will now provide open captioning, Braille programs, touch tours and audio-described performances for certain performances of all productions.
The Tony Award-winning theater is partnering with the not-for-profit Theatre Development Fund on the initiative.
Lookingglass artistic director Andrew White says the theater hopes to “lower any barriers” to anyone wanting to see live theater.
