Project Two brings Broadway tunes to Huntley

Project Two is back in town, and its members are ready to celebrate the holidays in support of the fine arts in local schools. They will be performing a holiday concert Saturday, Dec. 28, raising money for the Huntley High School Thespian Troupe.

Project Two is a music ensemble directed by Dylan Ladd, featuring top performers from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. They perform songs from rock musicals including “Jersey Boys,” “Rock of Ages,” and “Grease.”

This event will be particularly special in that they will feature holiday classics such as “White Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride,” and “All I Want For Christmas is You.” For such a large event, the band even brought in a 14-piece horn section, creating the big band style of crooners like Frank Sinatra.

Ladd, a music major from Valparaiso University, has been directing the group, which consists of 12 McHenry County residents, for more than seven years.

“This is the first time we’ve been able to pull something this large together,” Ladd explains. “With such a huge horn section and a ton of new songs, we are thrilled to have this opportunity to give back and return to the Huntley High School stage.”

The event will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, in the Huntley High School Performing Arts Center, 13719 Harmony Road, Huntley. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Originally focusing on songs from “Jersey Boys: The Music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons,” the group has expanded to a large variety of songs from rock musicals.

“It’s music for everyone — these aren’t just songs from Broadway, they’re pop songs that everyone has heard of at one point in their life,” drummer Joshua Rivera said.

Some Broadway hits performed by Project Two include “You’re the One That I Want,” from “Grease,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” from “Rock of Ages,” and “Walk Like a Man,” from “Jersey Boys.”

Project Two has performed at numerous venues, including Del Webb Sun City Huntley, McHenry County Fair and on the main stage at the Huntley Fall Fest. Members have also performed live on STAR 105.5, and at various local fundraising events.

Project Two has recorded its first album, “Project Two Music: Just the Beginning,” which is available on iTunes and Amazon.
