Rosemont to be featured during New Year’s TV broadcast

Rosemont’s entertainment district is ringing in the new year at all of its venues on Dec. 31, but those who can’t be there in person can still be part of the celebration at home.

The village’s MB Financial Park is one of the sites that will be featured during ABC 7’s “Countdown Chicago 2014” live New Year’s Eve broadcast.

Co-hosts Ryan Chiaverini and Ji Suk Yi will be stationed at MB Financial Park, one of several locations around the Chicago area that will be featured during the broadcast, which begins at 11:08 p.m.

“We are excited for the opportunity to showcase all of the great dining and entertainment options that MB Financial Park has to offer the greater Chicago area,” Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens said in a news release. “We’re grateful to be among the entertainment destinations ABC 7 has selected to be a part of this Chicago New Year’s Eve tradition.”

A midnight fireworks display will kick off 2014 at the park. Officials say the best view of the fireworks show will be from the ice rink, located in the middle of the entertainment district. A free skate will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., and skate rentals are available for $8. Skating continues at the park through Feb. 2.

All of the park’s venues — Adobe Gila’s Margarita Fajita Cantina, Five Roses Irish Pub, Hofbräuhaus Chicago, Park Tavern, Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar, Zanies Comedy Club, and Kings Lanes, Lounge & Sports — will feature New Year’s Eve festivities, including balloon drops, special dinner menus, live music and champagne toasts.

The 200,000-square-foot entertainment district is located east of Interstate 294 and south of Balmoral Avenue.
