Italian physicians visit Lutheran General

Two physicians and a health-care administrator from Tuscany, Italy, visited Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge Monday and Tuesday to watch surgery and understand how American health care processes are organized. “They want to learn how we assess the quality of our patient outcomes,” said Dr. John White, chairman of surgery. The Italian health care professionals had contact with Lutheran General through Dr. Fabio Sbrana, formerly director of surgery with them in central Italy. He now operates at Lutheran General, using the daVinci robot to treat pancreatic, liver, esophageal and stomach cancers.
