Chocolate Chip Brownies with Cream Cheese Frosting

Brownies

1 cup butter (2 sticks)

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate

2 cups sugar

4 large eggs, beaten

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1½ cups flour

1/8 teaspoon salt

6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

Frosting

3 ounces cream cheese, softened

6 tablespoons butter, softened

1 tablespoon whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups powdered sugar

For the brownies: Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.

Melt butter and chocolate over medium heat; cool to room temperature.

In a large bowl, cream together the sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth; blend with chocolate mixture.

Add flour and salt and mix well; stir in chocolate chips.

Spread batter into prepared pan and bake 25-30 minutes. Cool completely.

For the frosting: In medium bowl, beat cream cheese until soft; add butter and mix until smooth; stir in milk and vanilla. Gradually add sugar and beat until smooth.

Spread frosting onto cooled cake and enjoy.

Serves 16 to 20.
