Barrington tops at Mudge/McMorrow

Barrington had three champions and edged McHenry for top team honors in the 54th Annual Mudge/McMorrow wrestling tournament hosted by Prospect on Saturday.

The Broncos finished with 186 points, with McHenry at 183.5 and Prospect third at 151.5.

Barrington’s Mitch Stathakis pinned Trenton Jackson of Moline at 106 pounds for the title.

The Broncos’ Matt Conrad claimed a 7-2 decision over York’s Michael Ordonez at 132, and teammate Travis Cysewski pinned Fremd’s Cody Hauser in 6:48 at 170.

Prospect had a champion at 152, where Adrian Wroblewski pinned Dimitri Vityk of Round Lake at 2:23.

Round Lake, which finished seventh, got a title from Danny Arteaga at 126 pounds. He delivered a 9-1 major against Addison Trail’s Jake Pieckavic.

at Buffalo Grove: South Milwaukee proved to the class of the 11-team Rex Lewis Memorial field, finishing with 152 points to top runner-up Morris (145) and third-place Glenbrook South (145).

The host Bison had two champs in finishing seventh at 105 points.

Chase Ori delivered a 10-5decision over St. Patrick’s Miguel Gomez at 126 pounds, and Jake Siebert won 3-2 against Bobby Jurewicz of St. Patrick at 145.
