Mt. Prospect trees worth every penny

Arborists from Mount Prospect’s Forestry/Grounds Division want to share their good news about the village’s urban forest. In spite of substantial challenges caused by storms and tree diseases/insects, a recently published report by Urban Forestry LLC revealed that Mount Prospect’s publicly owned trees are providing a return of $2.29 in benefits for each dollar spent on their care. The report’s authors also said the vast majority of these trees are in very good to excellent condition, and they are providing myriad benefits worth $2.9 million. Arborists from the Public Works Forestry/Grounds Division will be available in January and February to share additional details about the program and the new Urban Forest Management Plan. Interested groups can call Public Works at (847) 870-5640 by Jan. 10 for more information.
