Two teens charged in attempted robbery of Elgin home

Two teenagers were arrested and charged with attempted residential burglary this week after trying to gain entry to an Elgin home through a first-floor window, police said Thursday.

Police said they responded to the 300 block of Jefferson Street at 2:18 p.m. Wednesday after a neighbor called 911 to report that two male subjects were trying to open windows on a house. Once officers arrived, the two males ran away, but officers were able to apprehend them three blocks away.

Florentino Bucio, 17, of the 400 block of Congdon Avenue, and the 16-year-old male juvenile, each were charged with one count of attempted residential burglary.

Bucio appeared in bond court Thursday morning, and his bond was set at $15,000. The 16-year-old was transported to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center to wait for a hearing with a judge.

Police said they would continue investigating to determine whether other area residents had items stolen or damaged.
