Big night for Barrington, Hasanov against Conant

Barrington had a slight edge over Conant in a meeting of girls gymnastics heavyweights on Wednesday, but not by much.

Sophomore all-arounder Abby Hasanov made the difference in favor of the Fillies, who scored 143.85. Conant finished at 142.75.

Hasanov had the top all-around score, 39.0, after winning each event.

She scored 9.9 on two events, vault and floor exercise. She won balance beam and uneven bars with 9.6’s.

Other key efforts for Barrington came on floor, where senior Brooke Morgan was second with a 9.6, and on vault, where sophomore Molly Blanke was third with a 9.5.

Conant senior Meicie Bennett was second in all-around with 36.5, and senior teammate Rachel Tong was third at 36.25.

Bennett was third on beam (9.0) and floor (9.6), while Tong was second on bars (9.3) and beam (9.3).

The Cougars also had second-place effort from sophomore Sarah Zorilla on vault (9.7).

Hersey d. Elk Grove: Senior Annie Johnson won three events and all-around as the Huskies scored 141.0 to top the Grens (112.6). Sophomore Alyssa Zurlo won parallel bars (8.8) and freshman Margaret Barton (8.75) was second for the Huskies.
