7 car crash shuts down Lake Street in Elgin

A 7-car pile up has shut down the intersection of Lake Street and Route 25 in downtown Elgin.
Authorities remain on the scene to investigate the crash and remove the vehicles involved in the accident.
The cause of the crash and number of injuries are unknown at this time, however cold weather may have played a role.
