Pedestrian accident in Grayslake halts Metra

A pedestrian was struck, but not killed, Tuesday night by a Metra North Central line train moving through Grayslake.

An inbound train hit a pedestrian near Center Road in Grayslake around 7:20 p.m., said Meg Reile, spokeswoman for Metra.

All inbound and outbound trains on the North Central Line were shut down for more than 90 minutes due to the accident.

The person hit was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Riele said. Information about the person’s injuries was not immediately available.
