Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players Return to Hinsdale

The award-winning Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players will present a concert series that explores the excitement of the Romantic Era beginning with a concert on Sunday, January 12 at 3 p.m. at Union Church of Hinsdale. The Chicago Philharmonic is made up primarily of Lyric Opera Orchestra members and other top-tier professional musicians from the Chicago area. The orchestra is also the official orchestra of the Joffrey Ballet. Concertgoers will experience an exceptional classical music performance in the divinely beautiful Union Church of Hinsdale.

The concert on Sunday, January 12 at 3 p.m. is titled Romantic Riches: Rachmaninoff and Brahms. The chamber players will perform two works by Sergei Rachmaninoff -- Sing Not, O Lovely One, Op. 4 No. 4 and Vocalise Op. 34, No. 14. In addition, they will perform Johannes Brahms dramatic Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, Op. 25. The performers featured on this concert are Renée-Paule Gauthier, Violin; Claudia Lasareff-Mironoff, Viola; Jean Hatmaker, Violoncello and Terree Shofner-Emrich, Piano.

The second concert is titled Parlor Valentines: Schubert and Schumann and takes place on Sunday, February 9, 3:00 p.m. – just days before Valentine's Day. This concert will feature several works to warm the heart such as Lieder from the Song Cycle Die Winterreise by Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann Piano Quartet in E flat, Op 47. Performers on the program are Kurt Link, Bass; Mathias Tacke, Violin; Stephen Boe, Viola; Andrew Snow, Cello and Beatriz Helguera, Piano.

And for the third concert Romantic Spring: Mendelssohn and Brahms on Sunday, March 2 at 3:00 p.m., the group will celebrate the coming of spring with Felix Mendelssohn's brilliant Piano Trio Op. 49 in D Minor and Johannes Brahms lovely Trio Op. 8 in B Major. The musicians on this program include Eric Weimer, Piano; Heather Wittels, Violin and Christopher Ferrer, Cello.

The concerts all take place at The Union Church of Hinsdale, 137 S Garfield Ave, Hinsdale, IL 60521.

The events include a meet and greet with the musicians after the concert and light refreshments provided by Whole Foods Market in Hinsdale. Tickets are $15 in advance ($10 seniors 65 and up) or $20 at the door ($15 seniors 65 and up). Children are free. Series pricing is available.
