Village board considers Brainerd question:

Libertyville officials on Tuesday will consider asking voters whether the village should be allowed to borrow $11.5 million to convert the former Libertyville High School, known as the Brainerd building, into a community center. The Brainerd Community Center group has asked the village to put the question on the March 18 primary ballot, and an ordinance to do that must be adopted by Dec. 30. A bond issue of that amount would increase taxes on a home valued at $300,000 by nearly $142 per year, according to a village estimate. The matter will be considered during the regular meeting beginning at 8 p.m. at village hall, 118 W. Cook Ave.
