Naperville police seek hit-and-run driver

Naperville police are searching for the driver of a red hatchback who struck a pedestrian Monday afternoon in the city's downtown and then left the scene.

The hit-and-run took place at 5:02 p.m. Monday at one of downtown Naperville's busiest intersections: Washington Street and Jefferson Avenue, police said.

The driver of the hatchback, described as a white woman between 17 and 21 with shoulder-length curly brown hair, was turning onto Washington from Jefferson and continued driving south on Washington after hitting one of two pedestrians who were walking in the intersection, police said.

The pedestrian who was struck suffered minor injuries after the collision, Cmdr. Louis Cammiso said.

Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the hit-and-run. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006.
