Gurnee police enforcement results:

Gurnee police have released results from enhanced impaired driving and seat belt enforcement activities throughout the village from Nov. 18 through Dec. 1. Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the extra enforcement was designed to coincide with the Thanksgiving holiday and was conducted to increase safety restraint compliance and to remove impaired drivers from roadways. Police said 11 additional officer deployments covered 51 hours from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. during that period. Six extra cops on duty made five drug- and alcohol-related arrests, a felony arrest and eight speeding citations.
