Authorities: Barrington woman on heroin when car crashed
Authorities said Thursday that a Barrington woman was driving under the influence of heroin early Wednesday morning when she crashed her car into three parked vehicles on Chicago’s West Side.
Her arrest comes two years after she pleaded guilty to hosting an underage drinking party at her home.
Julie McPike, 51, of the 200 block of Beverly Road, was charged with felony counts of aggravated DUI while operating a vehicle with a revoked license, as well as possession of more than 15 grams but less than 100 grams of heroin, prosecutors and police said.
McPike was arrested by Chicago police at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday on the 1100 Block of West Madison Street, where her vehicle came to a stop after it stuck three parked cars, police said.
She was transported to Rush University Medical Center for her crash injuries. No one else was hurt, according to police.
In addition to the two felony charges, McPike was charged with misdemeanor counts of DUI, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving on a revoked license, and failure to notify damage to an unattended vehicle. She was also issued two traffic citations for failure to reduce speed and a citation for driving on the sidewalk, police said..
Her bond was set at $50,000 on Thursday. She is due in court again Dec. 26.
In September 2011, McPike pleaded guilty to hosting an underage drinking party in July of that year. A Cook County judge ordered her to pay $600 in fines.
Four 18-year-olds were charged with consumption of alcohol at that party and sentenced to perform community service.
