Despite bad rollout, Obamacare is helpful

There has been much criticism of the ACA, and rightfully so, especially because of the very poor rollout. However, the reality is that the U.S. has had a faulty health care system for several decades.

Teddy Roosevelt, back in 1912, proposed the idea of national health care to insure our citizens. Several presidents, including presidents Nixon and Reagan, have tried to make improvements in our system, but failed.

Much has been said about the people who are getting cancellations notices, and here is the reality. About 5 percent of people are self-insured. Two percent of our citizens are receiving these notices, and for the large majority, if they were able to get onto the exchanges, they would find they could afford better coverage for the same or less prices.

The key to making the ACA work is for the website to work. Only then can it be fairly judged.
