Daily Herald staff report

The village of Round Lake Beach kicked off the holiday season with its annual tree-lighting event on Friday at the village hall at 1937 N. Municipal Way.

Santa arrived on a fire truck, and the tree was lit on the lawn of the municipal complex.

Afterward, there were visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus nearby at the Cultural & Civic Center of Round Lake Beach. Hot drinks and treats were served, and children enjoyed a holiday craft room.
