Travelers warned of construction delays

MADISON, Wis. — Travelers during the Thanksgiving holiday are being warned that ongoing construction projects and heavy traffic could cause delays over the next week.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says most highway construction projects have concluded for the year.

However, traffic volume is expected to be heavy on Friday as hunters flock to the woods for the start of deer hunting season and again on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. The heaviest traffic day is expected to be the Sunday after Thanksgiving as both deer hunters and travelers return home.

The most significant ongoing construction projects are on U.S. 41 and at the Leo Frigo Bridge in Green Bay and at the Zoo Interchange and the Hoan Bridge in Milwaukee.
