Alabama St. holds on to beat Chicago St.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — DeMarcus Robinson scored 21 points as Alabama State withstood a Chicago State comeback to win 79-75 Monday night in the Global Sports Invitational.

After being tied at 29 going into halftime, the Hornets (3-2) went on a 10-0 run to start the second half. Brandon Graham scored five of his eight points during the run. The lead would stay around 10 until later in the game.

Trailing 71-60, the Cougars (2-3) made their move, going on a 7-0 run and cut the lead to four with 55 seconds left. Chicago State’s frantic comeback got the score got as close as 77-75, but Alabama State was clutch at the line, hitting all six of their attempts in the final 20 seconds.

Jamel Waters added 18 points and six assists for Alabama State.

Quinton Pippen led Chicago State with 21 points and eight assists.
