Chicago man charged with trespassing on O’Hare tarmac

A 23-year-old Chicago man faces a felony trespassing charge after walking onto the tarmac at O’Hare International Airport on Saturday, authorities said.

Chicago police arrested Ardell Walker, of the 5200 block of west Van Buren Street, at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday after an airport employee notice Walker standing on the tarmac, police said. After responding officers ordered Walker to stop where he was, he ran away, causing police to chase him on foot.

Walker has been charged with one felony county of criminal trespass — restricted area/airport, and a misdemeanor count of resisting a peace officer, police said.

Authorities said the incident did not affect operations at the airport and did not pose a threat to the safety of the traveling public.

Walker was expected to appear in bond court in Chicago on Sunday afternoon.
