Illinois parts maker says jobs will be added by summer

PARIS, Ill. — An eastern Illinois auto parts maker now says it should add 300 previously announced new jobs at its plant by next summer.

Steven Duval is the head of human resources for Paris-based North American Lighting Inc. He said Thursday the company plans to add about 160 people at its plant in Paris by next spring and 300 by summer of 2014. Paris is about 60 miles southeast of Champaign near the Indiana state line.

The company makes automobile lights.

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity announced earlier this year it is giving North American Lighting $4.4 million in tax breaks and other incentives for adding the jobs.

North American Lighting employs more than 870 people in Paris. The company also has plants in Salem and Flora, Illinois.
