Man robs Woodridge gas station

A man robbed a Woodridge gas station Tuesday night and may be linked to similar armed robberies in DuPage and Cook counties, Woodridge police said.

Just before 10 p.m., a man armed with a black semiautomatic handgun entered the Shell station at 87th Street and Woodward Avenue and walked behind the counter demanding money and cigarettes. He’s described as a black male who wore an Adidas hoodie to conceal his identity.

No one was injured in the robbery. The suspect fled west from the store.

“The description and maneurisms were kind of similar to some other incidents, not in our town but in the area — Arlington Heights, Willowbrook and Glenview,” said Woodridge Sgt. Tom Stefanson.

Anyone with information should call the Woodridge Detective Unit at (630) 719-4740.
