Unpleasant Metra commutes make whole mess worse
I was so happy that the rain had stopped when I looked out the window this morning since I had left my umbrella at the office. That was until I got off the Metra train in Union Station. I and my fellow passengers stepped out into mass waterfalls. I mean the kind that your golf umbrella will barely protect you from — while the sliding water runs onto the passenger to your left.
Bad enough they raised my monthly pass 30 percent to nearly $200 from Schaumburg, that a former CEO was accused of corruption and that the board seems to be in complete chaos. How about diverting a few bucks from the budget? Going to patch up Union Station’s ceiling? Then we’ll only have to suffer through the air and noise pollution as we wait to walk up the stairs to Madison Street every morning.
