Nov. 7: CLC sponsors annual Veterans Day Ceremony

The College of Lake County's annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at noon on Thursday, Nov. 7 in Room C005 (C Wing Auditorium) on the Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington Street.

The ceremony's keynote speaker will be Mike Peck of the Lake County Veterans Assistance Commission. Other speakers will include David Nista, CLC veteran financial aid associate, and Dante Lamar Clayborne, a CLC student.

A color guard from Naval Station Great Lakes will present the colors. The national anthem will be sung by Zandra Genous, CLC director of TRiO grant. “Taps” will be performed by a Navy bugler, and a Navy chaplain will provide a prayer. In addition, there will be a presentation of the updated signed State of Support for the Guard and Reserve with the Secretary of Defense Hagel's signature. An open microphone portion of the program will allow veterans in the audience to share about their military experience.

The ceremony, which is open to the public, is being sponsored by the CLC Student Activities Program Board and Title V grant. The ceremony honors all veterans, and particularly CLC faculty, staff and students who are veterans of the armed forces.
