Advocate Good Shepherd hosts Veteran's Day Celebration

In recognition of the men and women who have served the United States through military service, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is hosting its first annual Veteran's Day celebration. The celebration takes place at Good Shepherd Hospital, 450 W. Highway 22, Barrington on Monday, November 11, 1 - 2 pm in the Lakeview Room.

The free event is open to all community members and will include an Honor Guard, Pledge of Allegiance, patriotic music, veteran slide show, refreshments and an opportunity to share stories and network with veterans and community members. Good Shepherd Hospital is pleased to partner with the Wounded Warrior Project; computer access will be available for those who would like to send a note to a wounded warrior and thank them for their service. All are also welcome to bring military memorabilia and to wear their uniform.

Representatives from The Warrior Watch group and the Veteran's Network Committee of McHenry County will be onsite to provide information regarding their efforts to support members of our armed forces.

“It is important to remember those who have served our country so that Americans can enjoy a better way of life”, says Karen Lambert, President of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. ”Veteran's Day is a time where we can pause and let our veteran's know how much we appreciate their dedication to our country.”

The purpose of Veteran's Day is a celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve for the common good. Veteran's Day is different than Memorial Day, which honors those in the military who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle; Veteran's Day pays tribute to all veterans - especially to living veterans who served their country during war or peacetime.
