Rotary collecting food for Thanksgiving holiday

For more than 25 years, the Rotary Clubs of Buffalo Grove and Wheeling have collected food that is distributed to families for the Thanksgiving holidays. The need has not been greater in those 25 years than it is now.

You can help by depositing nonperishable food in boxes at our collection sites. Those sites include: Buffalo Grove village hall, Buffalo Grove Fitness Center, Buffalo Grove Police Station, Buffalo Grove Fire Stations, Buffalo Grove Park District Alcott Community Center, Continental Restaurant, Culver’s Restaurant, Wheeling Park District Fitness Center, and the Edward Jones offices of Buffalo Grove and Wheeling.

Items most in need are: Canned veggies and fruits, dried beans, soup, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, macaroni and cheese, Ramen noodles, boxed stuffing, cereal, peanut butter and jelly.

Collections will be taking place until Nov. 19.

The students at Cooper Middle School, in conjunction with Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 schools also are collecting food.

Cash donations can be made payable to The Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove and mailed to Rotary, P.O. Box 5062, Buffalo Grove Il 60089. On the memo line of your check please write “Food Baskets.”
