Coal plant annoying allergy sufferers

I don’t like cold weather, but it brings good news — a freeze will rid allergy sufferers and asthmatics of all that misery-causing pollen.

That doesn’t mean life will be perfect for those of us with breathing problems. There still is air pollution.

Here in northern Illinois, we have a coal plant, Midwest Generation in Waukegan, that continues to pollute our air all year long. We can take Allegra or other allergy pills to offset the effects of pollen, but there is no pill to offset the damage caused by air pollution, especially for people with lung and heart ailments.

When will the coal plant stop polluting our air? That truly will be good news.
