Bail set for Elmhurst woman charged in low-speed chase

Bail was set at $50,000 Thursday for an Elmhurst woman accused of leading a low-speed police chase through Bensenville, Elk Grove Village and surrounding communities.

Nicole Evans, 30, faces charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault, criminal damage to government-supported property and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said Evans refused to pull over during an attempted traffic stop Tuesday, instead leading officers on a meandering pursuit that ended when she backed into a squad car and crashed into a tree while fleeing a McDonald's parking lot in Itasca.

In court Thursday, prosecutors said Evans has served time in prison and has prior convictions for theft and drug possession. Her next court date is Nov. 5.
