Prospect cheers for state champion golfers

Prospect High School held a pep rally Monday afternoon to celebrate the girls varsity golf team, which won the state championship this past weekend.

The girls rode golf carts into the Jean Walker Field House to the applause of the student body at the Mount Prospect school.

On Saturday night, the team brought home its second state title in three seasons after winning the Class AA crown at the Hickory Point Golf Club in Decatur.

Prospect topped runner-up Loyola by 9 strokes to win the championship, which is only the second for the school by a girls sports team. Seniors Kiley Walsh, Ally Scaccia and Noreen Caporusso led the squad in the state tournament. Walsh finished tied for fifth, Scaccia was seventh and Caporusso eighth individually.
