Extremism will return us to Dark Ages

First let me state what my mother told me over 50 years ago; “America would never be defeated by a foreign power but could be destroyed from within.” We are coming closer than ever to that destruction with the rise of the ultraconservative.

I went to a Tea Party meeting once. They started by reading their prayer, pledging allegiance to the flag and then talked of the overthrow of the government. They talk of the greatest government in the world and science as evil. They want more freedom to buy guns to prepare for the revolution. Does this sound like believers in the Constitution or the rule of law?

Today we see the leaders of the Tea Party holding America hostage. They care not of the majority of the people, or the American economy. They only care for their misguided agenda. An agenda that would isolate America from the rest of the world and a policy of laissez faire. The national debt is only an issue if there is a Democrat in the White House.

Deregulation has led to energy crises, airline bankruptcies and two banking disasters. The last banking crisis almost destroyed America’s housing, auto industries and all of the Western world’s economies. Now they want to finish the job of destroying America and Western civilization.

The Tea Party is in my opinion finishing Osama bin Laden’s agenda to discredit America in the eyes of the world and destroy the Western economy. Our only hope is to get through this GOP-made crisis in one piece then vote the extremists out. I don’t see this happening, and for the first time in my life I see the future as a return to the Dark Ages where extremists persecuted those who didn’t believe as they did.
