Kane helps Loyola to state lead

Loyola Academy’s Isabelle Kane shot a blistering 68 to take the individual lead and help her team do likewise on the first day of the Class AA girls golf state tournament on Friday.

Kane had 6 birdies in her 4-under round Hickory Point Golf Club in Decatur. Waubonsie Valley’s Bing Singhsumalee trails Kane by 2 strokes.

Loyola shot 299; Prospect is 4 strokes behind at 303, with a significant lead over New Trier (314) and Hinsdale Central (316).

Zion-Benton senior Morgan Kukla shot 76 and has a share of 15th place, and Stevenson senior Nicole Marquardt is in the next group at 77, in 21st place.

Libertyville freshman Simone Mikaelian shot 83, for 60th place.
