Fundraiser on tap for Gilberts man injured in bike accident
A fundraiser is being held Saturday for a Gilberts man injured in a motorcycle accident that resulted in a broken pelvis and a long stint in rehabilitation.
Friends say Mike Tenny, a husband and father of two young children, needs some help.
“He’s a great guy,” said Bill Schuchert, owner of Schuchert Motor Sales in Elgin. “We just wanted to try and help the family. They’re in a tough situation.”
Tenny bought his motorcycle from Schuchert and made it a winter project last year. It became a beautiful custom street bike, but in August, Tenny was involved in an accident with a car. He was thrown off the motorcycle, suffering broken bones and bruises.
It is unclear when Tenny will be able to work again at his appliance repair business; meanwhile, the family bills are mounting, Schuchert said.
He and his son, Beau, organized a fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Dutch Inn West in Elgin. Featured will be live music, a pig roast, an auction of items from local businesses and a motorcycle show.
“It will be a good time,” Schuchert said. “We’ve got some nice auction items from local businesses. I hope we get some support from the local motorcycle community.”
The event runs from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Dutch Inn West, 36W610 Foothill Road in Elgin.
Tickets are $15, which includes food. Draft beer will be available for $1 a glass. For more information, call Schuchert Motor Sales, (847) 695-8250 or the Dutch Inn, (847) 888-9560.
