MainStreet Libertyville receives state recognition

MainStreet Libertyville recently received the Lt. Governor’s Award for Excellence for its 2012 membership drive to promote local merchants.

MainStreet Libertyville is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization to promote and retain economic development in the downtown through historic preservation. It sponsors more than 50 days of community and retail events.

Forty-two communities hold the Illinois Main Street designation. Over the past 20 years, they have created 9,300 jobs, opened more than 1,200 new businesses and represent public and private investment of more than $750 million.
