Hoffman Estates Sister Cities hosts three French evenings

The Village of Hoffman Estates Sister Cities Commission is hosting three events with Chef Patrick Guat, Chef Pascal Herbert and three culinary students visiting from the village’s sister city, Angoulême, France.

A children’s cook class for up to 20 children ages 10 to 15 will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road. Each child will help prepare and sample desserts and receive a chef’s apron. The price is $15. Registration is required and can be done by calling (847) 781-2606.

The French visitors will prepare a four-course French dinner in partnership with Elgin Community College’s international culinary exchange program at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Spartan Terrace Restaurant, 1700 Spartan Drive in Elgin. Tickets are $60 and include wine pairings. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (847) 622-0300 or visiting tickets.elgin.edu.

Another French dinner with the French visitors will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, at L’Eiffel Bistrot at The Arboretum, 100 W. Higgins Road in South Barrington. Tickets for the event, which is co-sponsored by Frank Ferru of L’Eiffel Bistrot, are $70 and include wine pairings. Advanced reservations are required and can be made by calling the restaurant at (847) 428-4783.
