Prosecutor: Chicagoan stabs best friend over drugs

Cook County prosecutors say a 25-year-old Chicago man fatally stabbed his best friend when the two began fighting about a marijuana plant.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Christopher Shoji is charged with murder and a drug charge for Tuesday’s death of 24-year-old Solomon Morales.

Shoji was arrested by police after he was found — clutching the 5-foot-long plant — hiding in a friend’s closet.

He’s being held without bond after making a court appearance Thursday.

Authorities say Shoji and Morales were drinking in a friend’s apartment when they began fighting about the plant. Morales was able to walk home after being stabbed, but collapsed when he was found by relatives. He later died at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
