Aurora man cited after South Elgin accident

A 19-year-old Aurora man was cited for driving with a suspended license after a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon in South Elgin.

A 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven by Tyree Turman, 19, of Aurora, was traveling west on Stearns Road near Randall Road when it crossed the median and struck an eastbound 2009 Toyota driven by Joshua Koster, 28, of Bartlett, South Elgin Deputy Chief Jerry Krawczyk said.

Joyce Koster, 57, of Bartlett, a passenger in the Toyota, was airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Turman and Joshua Koster were taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.

All three victims had to be extricated by South Elgin Fire Department personnel, Krawczyk said. He didn’t have information about the condition of the victims, he said.

An Advocate Lutheran spokeswoman said she couldn’t confirm whether Joyce Koster was there Thursday afternoon.

Presence St. Joseph officials were not immediately available.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, but there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved, Krawczyk said.

Stearns Road, which becomes McDonald Road west of Randall Road, was closed for about an hour.
