Where is money for new highway?

So IDOT, in its infinite wisdom, thinks that we need a new expressway linking I-65 in Indiana to I-55 in Illinois.

I may be geographically challenged, but isn’t that road already there? It’s called I-294 and I-80. And wasn’t it recently reconstructed to “lessen congestion” and confusion?

The governor thinks it’s necessary, and the state is ready to start construction in 2014.

Wow! In Lake County we can’t get a road built that has been promised for 30 years, nor can the state manage to keep the existing roads repaired. But somehow, in the economic crisis we have in Illinois, there is plenty of money for a brand new interstate next year. Really?
