Naperville man convicted again in sexual assault of 10-year-old boy

A DuPage County jury deliberated for three and a half hours before again finding Grant Gambaiani guilty of sexually assaulting and taking nude photos of a 10-year-old boy. The retrial affirmed what a jury in 2010 originally determined. Charges against him include predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and 18 counts of various child porn charges. Full story.

32-year-old woman killed in crash near Maple Park

A 32-year-old woman from Cortland was killed Monday after a crash near Route 38 and Watson Road near Maple Park, authorities said. Shanay Martin died from her injuries after she crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a pickup truck, whose driver, a 35-year-old Maple Park man, was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the Kane County sheriff's office. Driver seriously injured in Gurnee

A 41-year-old driver rear-ended a stopped road-marking truck yesterday afternoon in Gurnee and was seriously injured, Gurnee fire officials said. The crash happened on Route 41 north of Stearns School Road. The driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Full story.

West Dundee approves police security cameras

West Dundee Police Department's security camera system is getting an upgrade after a unanimous vote of approval last night from the village board. The OK means 23 cameras in the police department that will store more footage than the current 10 cameras. Video cameras help the village defend itself against allegations of police misconduct. Body found confirmed as that of missing Lake Villa man

A body found in a Vernon Hills field last week has been confirmed through DNA as missing Lake Villa man Nick Steward, Lake County officials said yesterday. An autopsy revealed that he died of apparent self-inflicted knife wounds. Steward was last seen Sept. 20 and had a wife and 1-year-old son. Full story.

Patrick Sharp visits Lisle Jr. High

The Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp visited Lisle Jr. High as a reward to students who collected and donated nearly 75,000 items for Goodwill Cares, winning Goodwill's Pass It on Donation Challenge. Sharp visited all of the students in their homeroom classrooms and shared stories about the Stanley Cup, the team's funniest player and some of his other favorites. Full story.

Bears defense takes another hit

The Bears lost another member of the defensive line when Nate Collins left in the third quarter with a torn ACL in his left knee. The injury knocks him out for the season and requires surgery and at least an eight-month rehab. Two weeks earlier defensive tackle Henry Melton when down with the same injury. Full story.
