Geneva man wants state House 65th District seat

Geneva lawyer Steven Andersson is running for the Republican nomination for the state House 65th District seat.

He plans a formal announcement at 10:30 a.m. Thursday on the steps of the Kane County Courthouse, 100 S. Third St., Geneva, according to a news release sent Monday.

Current Rep. Tim Schmitz is not seeking re-election.

Andersson has been a Geneva Public Library trustee since 2009 and has been its treasurer since 2011. He has also served on three advisory committees for the city of Geneva.

He is a partner in the law firm of Mickey, Wilson, Weiler, Renzi and Andersson, P.C. in Aurora. He concentrates on municipal law, including serving as general counsel and village prosecutor for Montgomery, Sugar Grove and Hinckley.

The 65th House District includes parts of Geneva, St. Charles, Campton Hills, Plato Center, South Elgin, Elgin, Hampshire and Huntley.
