Pumpkinfest on the Fox:

The Broken Oar on the Fox River in Port Barrington kicks off its inaugural Pumpkinfest on the Fox on Sunday, Oct. 6, continuing through Halloween. The public is invited to carve or decorate pumpkins to fill a 100-foot riverfront wall. Each night in October at dusk the pumpkin wall will be lit and available for viewing. Pumpkin sales and carving will be weekends in the heated Oar party tent for a $5 donation per pumpkin, with all proceeds going to Lurie Children’s Hospital. The tent will house a 15-foot projection screen TV for football games, live entertainment Sundays and free hot dogs and hot chocolate with every donation on weekends. The finale weekend of Oct. 26-27 will include music, pumpkin chucking contest, a chili cook-off, pumpkin pie and tater tot eating contest, and more. The Broken Oar is at 614 Rawson Bridge Road.
