Judge: Peterson wrongful death case can continue

A Will County judge is allowing a wrongful death case against former Bolingbrook police officer Drew Peterson to go forward.

Circuit Court Judge Michael Powers is denying a motion for summary judgment in the case, which came after family members of Peterson's third wife asked for a ruling in the case without a trial.

The (Joliet) Herald-News reports Powers set a status hearing in the case for Oct. 24.

The 59-year-old Peterson was convicted in 2012 of killing Kathleen Savio as they were finalizing a divorce in 2004. Peterson was sentenced in February to 38 years in prison.
