Perfect finish for Carmel girls golf team

With an undefeated, 9-0 regular season and a win in Monday’s conference tournament, the Carmel girls golf team captured the East Suburban Catholic Conference championship for the first time since 2002. Playing at the par-72 Village Greens Golf Course in Woodridge, the Corsairs shot a team-low and season-best 344. St. Viator placed second with a 349.

Carmel was led by second-place finisher Kayla Ryan, a sophomore who turned in an 81. Another sophomore, Alexa Amato, took fifth place with an 83 while freshman Erin Kehoe finished in seventh with an 88. Each Carmel golfer shot her personal best.

St. Viator senior Dana Gattone, an Illinois recruit, was the medalist with a 73.
