Fall bulb planting:

Volunteers are sought to help with a fall bulb planting, sponsored by the Hawthorn Woods Environmental Committee, on Saturday, Oct. 13, starting at 11 a.m. at Heritage Oaks Park. Each fall, the committee has planted bulbs in various locations across Hawthorn Woods in an effort to increase the beauty of the village. This year, the committee will plant 2,000 chionodoxa and 225 narcissus, including white lion, thalia, Scarlett O’Hara, and Mount Hood varieties. If you or your love ones want to help, or if you need to log community service hours for Scouts or other organizations, join the effort. For information, call (847) 438-5500.
