Barrington measures up, tops Palatine

Barrington met the challenge in Mid-Suburban League girls swimming on Thursday, earning a 118-67 victory over Palatine.

The Fillies, who compete on Saturday in the Lake County Invitational, won the 200-yard medley and 200 free relays had a double individual winner in Mekenna Scheitlin (50 free, 100 back). Other winners for Barrington included Emma Barnett (200 IM), Tiffany Soto (diving), Kael Ragnini (500 free), Kirsten Jacobsen (100 fly) and Olivia Hoffman (100 breast).

For Palatine, Laura Mayer won the 200 IM, Kristin Anderson won the 100 free and Amy Zahn, Lily Zahn, Mayer and Anderson won the 400 free relay.

Rolling Meadows d. Wheeling: Bailey Rowley supplied victories for the host Mustangs in both the 200 IM and 100 fly as Rolling Meadows’ depth provided an edge in a 110-71 outcome.

Wheeling won the medley and 200 free relays and had individual winners in Theresa Godlewski (50 free, 100 free) along with Adrienne Rozmus (500 free) and Shannon Richards (100 back).

Meadows’ winners included Grace Nykol (200 free) and Anna Frantom (100 breast) and the 400 free relay.

Prospect d. Elk Grove: The host Knights maintained momentum with a strong performance against visiting Elk Grove in a 124-53 decision.

The Knights got a 1-2-3 finish in the 500-yard freestyle from Ellie McGough, Rachel Rozow and Natalia Dmitruk, had the top placement in all three relays and got an amazing 289.10 from junior Dana Liva in winning diving.

Elk Grove had a double winner in Simona Kurta (50 free, 100 fly) and Erin Falejzcyk won the 100 free.

Prospect got a 1-2 finish from Michelle Vuong and Abby Younger in the 100 back and a 1-2 finish from Betsy Rozow and Macey Berkley in the 100 breaststroke.

Schaumburg d. Hoffman Estates: Abigail Langlotz won the 200- and 400-meter freestyles and also had the anchor leg on the winning 200 freestyle to help visiting Schaumburg past Hoffman Estates 118-62.

Sydney Skibinski and Danielle E. Grubb gave the Saxons a boost with 1-2 finishes in both the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke.

Winners for Hoffman Estates included Jessica Sullivan in the 50 free, Sarah Miles in the 100 back and the medley relay of Miles, Casey Rawlings, Megan Bonney and Sullivan. Nicole Kasman joined Sullivan, Miles and Bonney in a winning 400 free relay for the Hawks.

Hersey d. Buffalo Grove: The host Huskies swept the relays and produced a big all-around effort to top Buffalo Grove 133-53.

Lena Fotos and Sarah Petro each won two individual races and Hannah Bovino, Anne Johnson and Megan Nocita went 1-2-3 in diving for the Huskies.

Buffalo Grove had an individual double winner in Sarah Morosan (100 fly, 100 back).
