Vernon Hills hosts Oktoberfest:
Vernon Hills hosts the 9th annual Oktoberfest festival from 3 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Metra commuter station, 75 Route 45. The event features a variety of activities, including Radio Disney, caricatures, a petting zoo, photo booth, record a hit, pumpkin painting, balloonist, hay rides and inflatables. Beatles tribute band Kaleidoscope Eyes will perform from 4:30 to 7 p.m., and UFC (Ultimate Freaking Cover Band) plays from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Raffle proceeds go to nonprofit food vendors.
