Wheeling rolling right along

Wheeling held a 1-0 lead at the half against visiting Conant, but there was no slowing the Wildcats in the second half in Mid-Suburban League boys soccer on Tuesday.

Jose Garcia and Ivan Mancilla both scored twice in the second period as Wheeling powered to a 6-1 victory.

Marino Lopez also scored and had an assist in the second half, and Garcia and Mancilla provided 1 assist each.

Elias Cisneros had Wheeling’s first-half goal with an assist from Garcia.

Elk Grove 5, Schaumburg 3: The visiting Grenadiers got 2 goals apiece from Jonathon Arzeta and David Bahena, and Alberto Centeno made 5 saves to help keep Elk Grove out in front.

Alan Santana, Phil Minneci and Zijo Zulic had the goals for Schaumburg.

Fremd 2, Prospect 1: The Vikings got a first-period goal from Nathan Dolan and another in the second from Zach Schoffstall to earn an MSL win on the road. Will Lefevre (3 saves) and Dylan Fisher (2) shared in the shutout for the Vikings.

Maine West 4, Glenbrook North 2: The Warriors kept their Central Suburban North record clean at 2-0-1 and improved to 9-3-2 overall as Miguel Lopez scored twice and Nelson and Herrera and Fernando Becerra once each.
