Wauconda water plan on agenda

The Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency board hosts a special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday to determine whether Wauconda will be allowed to join the system for Lake Michigan drinking water. The meeting will be at the CLCJAWA office, 200 Rockland Road, Lake Bluff. Wauconda and CLCJAWA officials were nearing an agreement until earlier this year, when Mayor Frank Bart announced the village needed to investigate alternative options. In 2012, Wauconda voters overwhelmingly approved a plan to abandon municipal wells and seek a source for Lake Michigan water.
