Prospect makes the grade at Lincoln-Way West

In the college events meet hosted by Lincoln-Way West on Saturday, Prospect’s girls swimming and diving squad turned out to be the big team on campus.

The Knights amassed 905 points to top runner-up Homewood-Flossmoor (871) and four more squads for the team championship.

Junior Dana Liva produced an 11-dive score of 414.35 to win by almost 65 points, and Prospect got another varsity-level victory in the flighted meet came from Ellie McGough in the 500-yard freestyle (5:41.94).

Prospect’s depth across the JV and frosh-soph levels helped make the difference as Lauren Broz won the JV 200 free, Amanda Fulk won the JV 200 IM, Natalie Dmitruk won the JV 50 and 100 free, Kathryn Brooks won the JV 100 fly and 100 back and Emma Colehour won the frosh-soph 100 breaststroke.

at Hoffman Estates: Rolling Meadows took top team honors in the six-team invitational hosted by Hoffman Estates on Saturday, totaling 178 points. South Elgin placed second (102), edging the host Hawks (101) and Wheeling (90).

In a format that featured flighted heats, several area competitors claimed individual victories.

Meadows got one a win from freshman Grace Nykol in the fastest heat of the 200-meter freestyle (2:31.70), another from Bailey Rowley in the 200 IM (2:48.39) and won both heats of the medley relay.

Wheeling’s Theresa Godlewski had the top efforts in the 50 free (28.38) and 100 back (1:08.15), and Hoffman Estates had winners in Megan Bonney (100 free, 1:07.55) and Sarah Miles (100 fly, 1:11.14).

Hoffman Estates’ Nathalie Castro won diving with a score of 160.90.
